IT Diversity Plan
Through its unit diversity initiatives, Information Technology supports the university's commitment to "foster and sustain an environment of inclusiveness." Diversity initiatives have included:
- Partnering with the Jefferson County Public Schools, created a program that targets minority students and increases interest in technology careers at an early age.
- Developing leadership training and mentoring programs for IT staff, targeting female and minority employees.
- Providing diversity training for staff in supervisory positions.
- Conducting an assessment of racial climate among IT employees.
- Assessing client satisfaction of faculty, staff and student constituent groups.
- Participating in other activities in support of the university's overall diversity initiative, including 1) presenting "The Road to Brown" in recognition of the 50th anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education and 2) securing a $10,000 grant to acquire the "Skywatchers of Africa" program shown at the Planetarium during Black History month.
The IT Diversity plans attempts to answer the question: "How will your unit increase diversity among administrators and staff? Each plan must focus specifically on African Americans, but may also include women and members of other protected groups." The current IT diversity plan update is linked below.
