NPHC Membership Process

How to Join an NPHC Organization:

Each NPHC fraternity and sorority brings in new members at various times of the year through a process called Membership Intake. All organizations governed by the National Pan- Hellenic Council have different requirements for membership. These organizations are permitted to conduct intake based on the chapter’s schedule and/ or their need for expansion. Some organizations conduct intake each semester; others do so only once a year. When organizations are looking to conduct Membership Intake, many of them will host an informational meeting in which the criteria for membership is explained. These are usually publicized via flyers on campus or on their social media platforms. NPHC will host a general information session about all of its organizations for students who have questions or are unsure about the intake process. This event is called “NPHC 411” and will be held on January 24 and April 11 at 6 pm (location TBD).

Requirements to Join an NPHC Organization:

Academics

Typically, a student must obtain a collegiate GPA of a 2.5 to 2.7 or higher. Candidates for membership must obtain at least 12 credit hours at the University of Louisville. Each NPHC organization has its own requirements set by their (inter)national organization and the University of Louisville respective chapter. Please contact the University of Louisville chapter that you are interested in for more information or for assistance contact the FSL office.

Involvement

Candidates seeking membership in an NPHC organization are encouraged to be involved in other areas of campus life and within the community. NPHC organizations value this involvement when conducting membership intake. Make sure to check out each chapter’s values to see which organization your values and involvement best align with.

Greek Forum

The NPHC executive board will host a Greek Forum, “NPHC 411” during the first few weeks of both the fall and spring semesters and then two other times throughout the semester. Students who are considering participating in an NPHC-affiliated Greek organization’s intake process should attend Greek Forum before attending any NPHC organization’s interest meeting. For additional information about the Greek Forum, please contact Fraternity and Sorority Life at 502-852-5701 or visit us in the Student Activity Center Suite 310.

Please note, if you attended the Greek Forum in Fall 2023, you are not required to attend for the Spring 2024 semester to be eligible for membership.
