In the Department of Intramural Sports, we want you to become "engaged" in our programs and facilities. By engaged we mean that you participate or use our programs to an extent that you develop a sense of ownership and belonging with us and the university community. We want you to feel like you matter here, because you do.

One of our more popular activities is open recreation. Open recreation is where facilities and equipment are made available for your use on a walk up basis. There are no scheduled games, leagues etc. but rather basketball courts, racquetball courts, weight equipment, cardiovascular equipment etc. are all made available for you to use when it fits your schedule.

Our facilities are open over 300 hours per week and offer different opportunities at each location. The open recreation program provides a great chance to try new activities as equipment for things like racquetball and sqaush are available so you can try new things without having to buy anything.

Come by and visit them all, you'll find an easy place to become "engaged."

Pool is only one of many options available for relaxing at the Cardinal Corner. You can also try your hand at, board games, card games, foosball, air hockey, table tennis or just kick back and take a break in the TV lounge. The room now features a new lounge area with couches and tables for relaxing. The lounge area has good wireless reception and is a good place to catch up on your email or web needs.


The Cardinal Corner Game Room has been in operation since January 1996. Since its opening, the room has averaged close to 200 users per day, rapidly becoming a vital part of campus life. The room, located on the third floor of the Student Activity Center next to the Floyd Theater, features pool tables, air hockey, foosball, table tennis, a gaming lounge with a 42" 1080P monitor and a multitude of board games. The room can be reserved by campus organizations for private functions such as rush parties, social events and lock-ins. The Cardinal Corner serves as host to various billiards, table tennis and foosball tournaments throughout the year. A valid university identification card is needed to check out any equipment. For reservation and rental information contact John Smith at 852-6707. During regular hours of operation you may reserve portions of the equipment for campus related functions. A rental fee will be arranged for private functions taking place outside regular hours of operation. Private functions pay a rental fee that includes the use of all equipment.
