Every year the International Center and the American International Relations Club (AIRC) celebrate one of the most important events held at the University of Louisville - the International Banquet. The International Banquet is a multi-cultural event that promotes diversity and mutual understanding among international students, U of L students, and the Louisville community.
The International Banquet is held on the first Saturday of March in the University of Louisville's multipurpose room in the Student Activity Center. Over 600 guests have the opportunity to sample food from all over the world including such countries as China, India, Hong Kong, Germany, France, Colombia, Japan, Panama, Switzerland, and USA.
The event also includes an entertainment program where different nations are represented through dance, music, song, and a fashion show. Past entertainers have included such acts as USA Harmony Grits, a Kentucky Bluegrass band. U of L students have delighted the audience with the "San Juanero" - a very colorful and picturesque Colombian tradition dance; a sample of Irish folk music and dance; and traditional dances from India, Brazil, and Russia. The International Banquet is an interesting and exciting experience that allows us to enjoy the cultural diversity of our university. We invite you to be a part of this annual celebration.
