Methodology and Data Sources for Gainful Employment Disclosure Reports

This document serves to provide additional explanation about the methodology and data sources of the Gainful Employment Disclosure information presented on each program’s website.

Please note the following criteria apply to all identified certificates:

  1. Data provided on the disclosure report are applicable only to students who graduated from the program 'on time.'
  2. 'On time' graduation is program specific (please see below for program specific information).
  3. 'On time graduation rate' is calculated as:

(number of students graduating ‘on time’ in an academic year) ÷ (number of students who graduated in the same academic year)
  4. 'On time' is defined as:
    • within 2 consecutive semesters after initial enrollment is considered one-year
    • within 4 consecutive semesters after initial enrollment is considered two-years
    • within 6 consecutive semesters after initial enrollment is considered three-years
  5. In order to comply with federal student privacy guidelines, 'on time graduation rate' and 'median loan debt' will not be reported for certificate programs with less than 10 graduates in the academic year.

  6. The CIP codes were established in collaboration with Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) and the Office of Academic Planning and Accountability.
  7. Both the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code and the Occupational Information Network (O*NET) code were established in collaboration between the academic unit and the Office of Academic Planning and Accountability.
  8. Each academic unit provides the 'placement rate for students who completed the program on time.'  Academic units are responsible for determining if placement has occurred.
  9. Unless otherwise noted, tuition per credit hour follows the regular (non-online) tuition for residents and non-residents.  Please note that courses offered online are 130% of the cost of traditional courses  (louisville.edu/finance/bursar/tuition)
  10. If there is no requirement by the state or an accreditor to calculate a placement rate for either the institution as a whole or for the specific GE Program, the institution does not need to disclose a placement rate.
