COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS (CIS)

Dr. S Srinivasan, InfoSec Coordinator, Professor of CIS

Dr. S. Srinivasan (nickname Srini) is a Professor of Computer Information Systems in the College of Business and Public Administration at the University of Louisville . He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh , Pittsburgh , PA in 1981. He joined the University of Louisville in 1987. Prior to that he taught at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville , TN , and the University of Akron in Akron , OH . His research interests are in Telecommunications security. He has published several papers in both Mathematics and Computer Science. He spent his most recent sabbatical year (2000 - 2001) at UPS in Louisville , working on a major database project. He is heading the InfoSec program development at the University of Louisville , which was recently accredited by the National Security Agency as meeting their curriculum standards for NSTISSI 4011 and 4012. Currently he concentrates his teaching in Information Security and Data Communications. He volunteers his time extensively for public education causes.

Dr. Robert Barker, Associate Professor of CIS

Dr. Robert Barker is an Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems (CIS) at the University of Louisville . He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Management from Saint Francis College in Indiana ; an MBA with specialization in Organizational Behavior from Miami University , Ohio ; and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Syracuse University , New York . He has been teaching at the university level for twenty one years, and has held teaching appointments at three different Universities. His design of course materials and teaching at the graduate level covered information technology modules in MBA programs in Louisville ; Hong Kong; Athens , Greece ; Singapore ; and Panama . Dr. Barker has presented papers at many national and international academic conferences, and has presented research by request at the National University of Singapore. He has authored or co-authored over 17 journal articles, and has research interests in end user computing, strategic information systems, and sales force automation. His consulting activities have covered work with the United States Army's National Recruiting Command, Lightyear Communications, and several small businesses in Kentucky and Ohio . He is scheduled to teach Information Security course in the CIS InfoSec concentration. He attended the InfoSec Curriculum Development Conference at Kennesaw State University , Kennesaw , GA in September 2005.

Dr. Jeff Guan. Associate Professor of CIS

Dr. Jian (Jeff)Guan is an Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems (CIS) in the College of Business at the University of Louisville . He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering in 1992 from the University of Louisville . He joined the University of Louisville in 1989 as Assistant Professor. His research interests are in Accounting Information Systems and Diagnostic Reasoning. He has published in areas such as Computer Science, Engineering, Marketing, and Accounting. He also has had extensive industry consulting experience in business intelligence and enterprise applications. He is part of the InfoSec program faculty in CIS at the University of Louisville . Currently his main teaching responsibilities are in database and web programming. He is scheduled to teach the Database Security course in the CIS InfoSec concentration. He attended the InfoSec CD 2005 Conference at Kennesaw State University , Kennesaw , GA , in September 2005.

Dr. Andrew Wright, Assistant Professor of CIS, Director of Academic Technology

Andrew L. Wright is an Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems (CIS) in the College of Business and Director of Academic Technology for the University of Louisville . He joined the faculty after earning his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering in 1994 from the University of Louisville . Professor Wright's research interests are quite varied and include: Information Security, Risk assessment, Uncertainty management, Fuzzy set theory, Neural networks, Object-oriented design, Ethical/Social issues in computing, End-user computing, and Campus Information Systems. He teaches the undergraduate course in Network Security in the CIS InfoSec concentration. Also, he teaches Web programming, Enterprise internet computing, and Project management. He is part of the InfoSec program faculty in CIS at the University of Louisville . As Director of Academic Technology, he leads academic IT governance and academic technology planning for the university. He attended the InfoSec CD 2005 Conference at Kennesaw State University , Kennesaw , GA , in September 2005. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and ACM.

Dr. Jozef Zurada, Professor of CIS

Jozef Zurada earned Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Gdansk University of Technology, Gdansk , Poland , in 1972 and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Louisville in 1995. He joined the University of Louisville as an Assistant Professor in 1990. Currently, he is a Professor of Computer Information Systems (CIS). He co-edited two books, including the most recent book titled “Next Generation of Data Mining Applications”, IEEE Press/Wiley, 2005. He has published over fifty articles in refereed journals, book chapters, and refereed conference proceedings. He has delivered more than thirty presentations to academic and professional audiences. His research interests include applications of data mining methods for solving challenging business, engineering, and manufacturing problems. He teaches Data mining and Knowledge discovery, Database design, Operating systems and Computer architecture, and Business Data Communications. He is part of the InfoSec program faculty in CIS at the University of Louisville . He is scheduled to teach the Database Security course and the Cryptography course in the CIS InfoSec concentration. He attended the InfoSec CD 2005 Conference at Kennesaw State University , Kennesaw , GA , in September 2005.

COMPUTER ENGINEERING COMPUTER SCIENCE

Dr. Anup Kumar, Professor CECS
Dr. Anup Kumar completed his Ph.D. in 1989 from North Carolina State University . Currently, he is Professor in Computer Engineering and Computer Science at University of Louisville . He is also the director of Mobile Information Networks and Distributed Systems (MINDS) Laboratory. His research interests include distributed system modeling and Simulation, wireless networks, multimedia systems and genetic algorithm application. He is currently the Chair of IEEE Computer Society Technical committee on Simulation (TCSIM). He was the Vice Chair of IEEE TCSIM from 1995-1998. He has edited a special issue on performance evaluation in "Simulation Digest". He has also edited special issues in "International Journal on Computers and Operations Research". He has published and presented over 100 papers. Some of his papers have appeared in ACM Multimedia Systems Journal, IEEE Transactions on computers, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, IEEE Transactions on Reliability, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, Journal of Computer and Software Engineering, etc. He was the Associate Editor of International Journal of Engineering Design and Automation 1995-1998. He has served on the panel for NSF proposal review. He has been invited to participate in several the NSF sponsored workshops. He has served on many conferences program committees such as IEEE Symposium of Parallel and Distributed Systems, Seventh International Conference on Parallel and is on Distributed Computer Systems, IEEE International workshop on Modeling Analysis and Simulation of Computer and Telecommunication Systems, ADCOM'97 and 98. He was the program committee Co-Chair for the Sixth ISCA International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computer Systems 1993. He has also chaired sessions in several International Conferences. He is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, 1994. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.
Dr. Rammohan Ragade

Dr. Rammohan Ragade joined the university in 1980. He is currently a Professor of CECS and Director of the Graduate Studies program in CECS department. Dr. Ragade has taught a course in Information Security. His research interests are in Software Engineering. He is member of IEEE and ACM.

Dr. Adel Elmaghraby

Dr. Adel S. Elmaghraby is Professor and Chair of the Computer Engineering Computer Science Department and Director of the Multimedia Research Lab at the University of Louisville . He has also held appointments at the SEI-CMU, and the University of Wisconsin ? Madison . His research interests are in Intelligent Multimedia Systems, Neural Networks, PDCS, Visualization and Simulation. He is a member of several editorial boards and technical reviewer for several journals. He has been recognized for his achievements by several professional organizations including the Golden Core Membership Award by the IEEE Computer Society.
Dr. Ahmed Desoky

Dr. Ahmed Desoky is an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering Computer Science. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University , Raleigh , in 1983. He specializes in Cryptography. He has taught Cryptography and Advanced Cryptology courses every summer since 2002. Originally from Egypt , he has maintained his interest in Cryptography and currently does research in visualization. Dr. Desoky joined U of L in 1985. He is a Member of the IEEE and American Statistical Society. His research interests are Image Processing and Computer Vision, Data Compression and Coding, and Bioinformatics.

Dr. James Graham

Dr. James Graham is the Henry Vogt Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Louisville , and has a joint appointment in the department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science, and the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He earned the Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1972, and the Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1978 and 1980, respectively. He worked as a product design engineer for General Motors Corporation, and as a faculty member at Purdue University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, before joining the faculty of the University of Louisville. He has served as a consultant to a number of companies, including the General Electric Company, GTE (now part of Verizon), and several high-technology startup companies. Dr. Graham is the editor of two books, and the author or coauthor of over 200 technical publications. He has supervised thirteen Ph.D. dissertations, and over 50 master?s theses. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), a member of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), and a member of the International Society for Computers and Their Applications (ISCA).
