FUNDAMENTALS OF COMPUTER NETWORKS (3 Cr.)

Description : This course is an introduction to data communication between computers. The key aspects of transmission interfacing, link control, and multiplexing are examined. The course also examines the internal mechanisms by which communication networks provide a data transfer service for attached devices.

Objectives : At the conclusion of this course, the successful (passing) student will be able to:

a. Demonstrate knowledge to understand basic concepts of computer networking.
b. Demonstrate understanding of performance characterization for network algorithms.
c. Complete the design and development of assigned projects in computer networking.
d. Address and accommodate the “what if” contingencies in the design project.
