Creating and Implementing a Self-Paced, Multimedia Tutorial

Shockwave is a set of tools that allows you to publish and run fully interactive multimedia programs on the world wide web. For example, tutorials developed using one of Macromedia's multimedia packages such as Authorware or Director can be formatted to be made accessible from the world wide web. More information about Shockwave can be found at the Macromedia web site (http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave).

Note: University of Louisville's catalog tutorial has not been fully implemented for web access. In particular, the screen sizes will need to be optimized for graphical web browsers. However, to get an idea of how interaction can work on the web using Shockwave, you can try out the link below to run the tutorial.

First, make sure you have:

Steps:

  1. Get Shockwave for Authorware (Windows 3.1, 95, or NT) from a Macromedia web site (http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/alternates/index.html) or (http://www-asia.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/alternates/index.html)
  2. Run the executable file downloaded in step #1 to install Shockwave for your browser.
  3. Run the demo.
