Facilities
The Institute for Advanced Materials and Renewable Energy (IAM-RE) maintains a comprehensive facility for characterizing both inorganic and soft materials using a variety of microscopy, spectroscopy and diffraction tools. Over a period of ten years or more, the IAM-RE’s comprehensive facility is acquired using support from a variety of sources such as local industry, the state of Kentucky and infrastructure grants from several federal agencies such as US Army, National Science Foundation (NSF) and US Department of Energy (DOE). One of the goals of the institute is to establish and maintain this comprehensive facility as a core facility for UofL researchers and regional industry users.
We established a University-Industry service center for facilitating industry interactions with IAM-RE. Contact Ms. Rodica McCoy (the facility co-ordinator) by phone at 502-852-6348 or by e-mail at rodica@louisville.edu to know about the procedures and policies and also to work with IAM-RE by becoming a member.
IAM-RE maintains a comprehensive facility for characterizing materials. It contains the following tools and techniques:
