Moving to Non-Exempt? Review the Employee Toolkit

If you have received notification that you are eligible for overtime and will transition to non-exempt, you are strongly encouraged to review the Employee Toolkit and the additional resources on this webpage. This toolkit will provide guidance on leave accruals, including the addition of personal leave, time reporting and much more.

Paycheck Calculator

Changing to non-exempt also means a change in your pay frequency - from monthly to bi-weekly. Bi-weekly employees receive 26 paychecks per year. To understand how that will affect your paycheck, view the paycheck calculator to determine your own non-exempt pay based on annual salary (using your standard hour of 37.5 or 40).

Managing your Deductions

As you transition from a monthly to bi-weekly pay schedule, it is important to review all payroll deductions. Here are steps you can take now to avoid any issues. Any changes to deductions must be completed, between November 28 and December 2, 2016 to be reflected on your first bi-weekly paycheck on December 16, 2016.

Review your Personal Finances

In preparing to transition from monthly to bi-weekly, you should also review your non-UofL related automatic payments or transfers (i.e. mortgage payments, bank transfers etc.) to make sure the timing is still appropriate and manageable.
