What Are Income Taxes?
Federal income tax is the amount of money you have to pay to the federal government. It's collected by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). In 41 states, you've got to pay state income tax to your state government. If your county, city, or school district has an income tax, then you pay this tax to your local government.
