How do I apply for a position at the university?
All open vacancies at the university can be found on the UofL Jobs Page. New positions are posted every Friday. To apply, you will need to create a new account or log into an existing account if you have applied at the university before. Occasionally a posting is available for internal applicants only. Current employees can access these postings by logging into, then click on Self Service > Recruiting Activities > Staff Careers or Faculty Careers.
Do I need to register with an email address?
An email address is not required to apply for positions at the university. However, registering with an email address will ensure that you will receive a confirmation that your application was successfully submitted and allow you to retrieve your user name or password if lost.
Do I need a resume to apply for a job at UofL?
While attaching a resume to your application can be beneficial, a resume is not required to apply for positions at the university, unless specifically stated in a job posting.
In addition to my resume, I would like to include a cover letter and/or other documents, but I did not see a place to do so. How can I do that?
Our system only accommodates one attachment per application. If you wish to include a cover letter and/or references please include these items as one document with the resume.
Since I am attaching a resume do I need to fill out the Work Experience section of the application?
Yes. For staff positions, applications must be completed to include work experience and education, even if a resume is uploaded. Faculty applicants may upload a CV and then follow instructions in the job posting to submit other documents.
How will I know my application was submitted successfully?
If you registered with an email address, you will receive an email confirmation of your application.
I have applied to a position online, what is the status?
Please note that our staff positions are typically posted for one to two weeks and it takes an average of six to eight weeks to fill a position. If you would like to find out if a position has been filled, please have the job ID number ready and email email@example.com or call HR at 852-6542.
I forgot my password. How can I retrieve it?
If you forgot your login information, and you registered with an email address, you can have it sent to you via email. On the login page click on ‘Login Help’. Follow the prompts to retrieve either your password or user ID. If you did not register with an email address, your login information cannot be retrieved. Please create a new user name and password to apply for future positions.
Where can I find positions with the University Hospital or the UofL Health Care Complex?
For a complete listing of open positions available at the UofL Health Care Medical Complex, please visit www.uoflhealthcare.org. The UofL Health Care system is a separate entity from the University of Louisville and may provide different pay ranges as well as benefit options.
I am interested in working in food services on campus. How can I apply?
UofL Dining Services are outsourced to Sodexo. Their applications can be found online at www.uofldiningservices.com.
I am interested in working as a Custodian at the university. How can I apply?
All custodians are hired through a staffing agency on a temp-to-hire basis. Interested applicants should contact Ahead HR at 485-1000 to apply.
I am interested in working as a temporary on campus. How can I apply?
The University outsources its temporary employment needs and has contracts with multiple agencies. Applications need to be submitted directly to the agencies. Contact information for these agencies can be found on our website.
I am a student on campus looking for part time work. Where can I find that?

Where can I find the salary ranges for positions at UofL?
In each job description for staff jobs, a salary grade will be listed. The list of salary ranges for each grade can be found on the HR website.
