JOB TITLE: Public Safety Telecommunicator Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY
Supervise the daily operation of the Public Safety Communications Center and coordinate scheduling and operational procedures.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Manage daily operation of the Communications Center.
Perform daily programming of computer-based monitoring system.
Outline training program for telecommunicators and insure implementation, including on-the-job training.
Directly implement Departmental Policies relative to the Communications Center, including the actual preparation of policies or procedures.
Receive and disseminate information relating to the LINK/NCIC operations and maintain and review various databases to insure compliance with policies and applicable State and Federal laws.
Participate in personnel selection, evaluation and disciplinary action, prepare daily work schedules and approve and process leave requests.
Maintain availability for replacement of Telecommunicators.
Insure adequacy of equipment and supplies.
Provide first line remedial repair of Communications Center electronic systems,
Discuss items of Departmental interest with local outside agencies and disseminate relative information to Communications personnel.
Coordinate installation of various systems connected to the computer-based fire and security systems.
Maintain viability of systems software and provide assistance to personnel as needed.
Perform all functions and duties of a Dispatcher/Communications Operator.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
High school diploma. Kentucky State Certification as a Public Safety Telecommunicator and a LINK/NCIC Operator. Normal speech and hearing. Keyboard skills - 25 wpm. Passage of a criminal conviction check and psychological examination required.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of related experience, at least one of which is as a Telecommunicator or with technical supervisory responsibility.
