Job Title: Research Engineer – Bioengineering

Job Summary

Order, install and characterize fabrication and testing equipment for mircro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and nano-EMS (NEMS) based platforms. Fabricate MEMS/NEMS devices. Experience with cell culturing techniques. General working knowledge of microfabrication, cell/tissue culturing, and testing equipment. Experience in dealing with industrial technical service representatives and sales personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

Install microfabrication, cell/tissue culturing, testing, electronic packaging, and mask generation equipment.

Characterize the equipment stated above.

Develop standard operating procedures for the equipments stated above.

Order above equipment.

 Fabricate BioMEMS/NEMS based systems.

Coordinate the purchase of equipment stated above and interface with manufacturer’s sales and technical staff.

Train research engineers, graduate students and undergraduate students on correct procedures for the safe operation of the equipment.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field of Science including Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Chemical Engineering with some post-graduate coursework in microfabrication, MEMS, and biomedical engineering.

Experience

One year of related experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the education requirements.
