JOB SUMMARY
Participate in a four-year apprenticeship program to qualify as a journeyman Electrician.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete 152 credit hours of evening (after day work hours) technical school classroom instruction.
Complete 2000 bench work hours (on-the-job) per year of the four-year apprenticeship program.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
High school diploma, valid driver’s license, physical, respirator test, police record check and be insurable by the University’s insurance carrier. Candidate must pass a pre-admission test call the Compus Test, which includes pre-algebra with a score of 70 or better, algebra with a score of 25 or better, and reading comprehension, which does not have a cut off score, before being considered as a candidate. Must meet admission requirements for Jefferson Technical College. Must follow the policy on absenteeism established by the Committee of The Louisville Area Industrial Electrician’s Apprenticeship Program.
