JOB TITLE: Assistant Budget Analyst **
CLASS CODE: 001261
Responsible for maintaining the accuracy and validity of the position control's current year and CAR budget. Requires analysis of all adjustments and revisions to the university's general fund positions. Must have strong working knowledge of both the university budget process and Human Resources.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Participating in the development, monitoring and control of the university budget
Preparing monthly budget analysis reports for review by senior budget officer and university administrators
Using on-line general ledger system and reports from general ledger, financial aid, financial records and other systems for data collection and analysis
Responding to budget related inquiries from departments, especially additional release and carryover questions
Reconciling the budget to the Financial Records System
Reconciling the budget to the Position Control System
Being the liaison between OPB and Employee Services
Being the liaison between OPB and Controller's Office
Being the unit liaison on the on-line BTR System
Expenditure and Income account creation and maintenance
Position account creation and maintenance
Rendering technical advice to the unit on position issues relating to budget
Providing support within department and answering departmental questions during the budget process. Assisting with training of department users of the budget system.
Providing office support, responding to inquiries and developing and maintaining a database of university statistics economic and other appropriate external data
Coordinating the filing and preparing of institutional reports, assessment of data requirements, collections, analysis and interpretation of data coming from many sources, and draft narrative

Perform self-directed analytical studies related to specific position account or budget problems. Research information and complete report. Perform research, compile and provide information for special studies.
Initiate additional release and carryover budget entries and assist with preparation of related reports.
Responsible for researching, implementing and maintaining new technology related to record retrieval. Complete any yearly archival projects.
Coordinate the process of Position Control documents to the Employee Services Center and Budget Adjustment documents to the Controller's Office.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Budget and accounting principles and a working knowledge of computers.
Two years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
