JOB TITLE: Fire Equipment Specialist

JOB SUMMARY
Inspect and maintain electronic fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and all other fire and security related equipment within University properties.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Install, inspect, maintain electronic fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, security systems, emergency lighting systems, fire suppression systems and related equipment installed in University properties.
Inspect and service fire extinguishers and refill or replace as needed.
Respond to fire alarms, sprinkler alarms and other fire safety related problems.
Inspect and maintain Electronic Kidde Notifying Systems and associated circuit boards.
Maintain a log of inspections and maintenance activities including nature of maintenance and repairs and the dates involved.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
Up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level in Fire Science and/or Electronics. Certified by the State of Kentucky to inspect and maintain Sprinkler Systems and/or Fire Alarm Systems. Factory certification on Grinell DCP-200 and/or Grinell Mini-plex 1000 systems. This certification can be used in place of the Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Systems Certification. Valid driver's license and must be insurable through the University.
EXPERIENCE
Four years of experience in maintenance of Fire and/or Life Safety Equipment. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
