JOB TITLE:  Multimedia Technician I
CLASS CODE:     000934    

JOB SUMMARY

Schedule, distribute, operate and consult with customer regarding usage of electronic instructional support media/multimedia technology and materials used primarily on campus with some off-campus use. Serve as computer hardware/software display devices operational contact for electronic media and multimedia devices utilized in classrooms, labs and other teaching and presentation environments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

Schedule and provide the operational support associated with the use of electronic media-multimedia technology by faculty and staff both inside and outside the University campuses including operation of University vehicle.

Assist and serve as backup for Communications Analyst II in his role as CODEC Lead Technician and with teleconferencing and telecourses scheduled on all campuses.

Set up and operate computer-based multimedia and electronic media equipment.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electronic media and multimedia computer hardware and software utilities. Serve as an operational contact for multimedia software or hardware needs and the other electronic media needs in classrooms and other teaching environments. Consult with faculty and staff to make recommendations concerning appropriate instructional technology equipment for instructional and other usage. Improve professional competence and increase skills and training through self-education.

Perform data entry and retrieval and produce reports using Media Distribution database record keeping system.

Provide operational support for IQE lab staff.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS

Eighteen months of training beyond high school level. Valid driver's license and insurable by the University insurance carrier.

EXPERIENCE

Two years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
