JOB TITLE: Network Services Technician II

Install, repair and maintain communications equipment and links on both voice and data equipment. Analyze and resolve systems problems.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Install and repair voice and data communications equipment.
Utilize complex test equipment for problem determination and installation of voice and data equipment (frequency generators, bert testers, fiber optic loss test sets, etc.).
Install, splice and maintain University's fiber optic network.
Install and maintain inter and intra building cable facilities.
Make technical recommendations to supervisor or lead technician for proper performance of all job related tasks.
Serve as initial contact for user facilities.
Act as liaison for problem determination and resolution for data and voice communications equipment.
Maintain documentation of data and voice communications equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
Associate's degree in a related technical field.
Four years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
Network Services Supervisor
Functional supervision may be exercised over assigned technical support staff.
