JOB TITLE:  Dialysis Nursing Unit Supervisor
CLASS CODE:  373628   GRADE:  28 MARKET GRADE: 32

JOB SUMMARY

Supervise the operations of the Dialysis Unit, including patient care, and perform general administrative duties 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

Supervise, assign, schedule and evaluate work on nurses and technicians.

Develop, implement and update departmental policies and procedures.  

Develop protocols for nursing care of dialysis, continuous arteriovenous hemofiltration (CAVH), and plasmapheresis patients.

Supervise and participate in patient care and education activities.

Implement and participate in quality assurance programs, including equipment, education, nursing staff and management meetings.

Participate in hospital rounds and ensure that all medical records are available.

Ensure staff compliance with infection control and operational safety standards.

May schedule hospital admissions, coordinate follow-up care for patients and assist with outpatient clinic activities.

May participate in research projects.

Perform related administrative duties.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Registered Nurse in the State of Kentucky. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted. 

EXPERIENCE

Five years of Nursing experience including ICU and Dialysis experience.
