JOB TITLE: Computer Operations Specialist

Assist and train computer operators in the operations of complex computer systems, associated peripheral equipment and complex communications network.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Oversee complex computer systems ensuring maximum availability of system resources. Perform problem determination and coordinate corrective action.
Monitor and maintain Data Center facilities and environmental controls.
Oversee batch application systems, including job setup, scheduling, execution, output processing and report distribution.
Oversee online system availability, including scheduling, monitoring and problem determination.
Monitor and oversee network connectivity of UofL WAN, KECNET, BITNET and Internet.
Maintain Data Center documentation, test and create operational documentation as necessary.
Oversee maintenance of tape library.
Complete and maintain Data Center logs. Perform shift turnover.
Provide operation support to other Computer Operations Staff on all shifts.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
Associate's degree in Data Processing.
Four years of related experience.
