JOB SUMMARY
Direct external and internal communications efforts of the unit. Assist in the coordination of the research activities including assisting in formulating research goals, preparing proposals, budget statements and writing grant proposals.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Design research methodologies and projects which carry out unit research goals and objectives.
Assist in planning programs of strategy addressing service and education needs.
Identify sources of funding, prepare grant proposals and follow up the requests.
Meet with faculty committees to develop research plans.
May coordinate publication and develop a marketing strategy for disseminating faculty publications and products.
Analyze data and prepare results for presentation, publication and special reports.
Monitor legislative and government agency action for their impact on service, education, research and funding.
Conduct critical analysis and summarize literature relevant to the activities of the unit and prepare reports.
Monitor budget expenditures for funded projects.
Act as liaison in research area with granting agencies, research foundations, the community and other institutions.
Provide instruction to assigned staff.
Perform other administrative and management duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
Master's degree in English, Journalism, a Social Science or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Four years of experience in designing research methodologies, implementing research data analysis and reporting, and grant writing. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
