JOB TITLE: Library Associate

This is the FOURTH level in a series of four classification levels for library services. Incumbents in positions at this level work under the general direction of a library head. Incumbents at this level perform complex specialized duties which require independent application of a professional level of knowledge. Work at this level requires sophisticated technology skills, a comprehensive knowledge of library operations and resources, and in-depth knowledge of a specialized area. May supervise lower level staff and students.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Determine needs, goals and priorities.
Recommend, understand, apply and interpret operational policies for a library unit. Serve as a primary source of information about established policies and procedures.
Assign, monitor and coordinate the work of a group of library employees. Plan, monitor and adjust workflow. May hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate Library Specialist I's, II's, III's and temporary employees.
Manage budget, contracts and licenses.
Conduct complex research.
Coordinate the delivery and marketing of external and internal programs.
Identify, process and preserve library materials and resources. Assist in selection and acquisition of library materials and resources.
Select and evaluate vendors.
Foster relationships with donors.
Develop and manage disaster plan for library resources.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, business, computer/information science or related field.
Four years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
