JOB TITLE: Brachytherapy Technologist

Responsible, as a member of the Radiation Oncology treatment team, for inventory, radiation safety and correct placement of radioactive sources, when sources are used to treat cancer patients.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Attend operating room procedures to assist the physician.
Prepare and assay sources for the patient treatment.
Maintain inventory of sources, sterilized applicators and associated brachytherapy equipment.
Load sources into needles, tandems, ovoids, or other source delivery systems.
Maintain current knowledge of all brachytherapy dosimetry procedures and policies. Keep informed, knowledgeable and proficient in performing all brachytherapy procedures.
Teach applied aspects of brachytherapy technology to medical and physics residents.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Physics or related field or ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology or NRRPT certification in Radiation Protection Technology.
Two years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
