JOB SUMMARY

Perform histological procedures and maintain histopathology laboratory according to necessary regulations. Assist in the preparation for and performance of post mortem examinations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

Prepare, operate and maintain a properly functional histology laboratory. Process routine and special stained slides. Maintain, receive and release all histology samples.

Assist in performance of medical legal post mortem examinations including photography, evidence collection, toxicology collection, dissection, preparation of the dissected cadaver and body transport. May be required to assist pathologist at scene of crime or site of body recovery.

Manage inventory including disposable and hazardous materials needed for histology laboratory, autopsy suite and morgue.

Maintain all records for Clinical Forensic Medicine and forensic Consultations.

Manage physical evidence, personal effects and associated records.

Write and maintain departmental procedure manuals.

Perform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field of science.

EXPERIENCE

Five years of related experience.  An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
