JOB TITLE:  Assistant to Vice Dean Academic Affairs (SOM)
CLASS CODE:  000564 


Perform diversified and complex administrative duties in support of the Associate Vice President for Health Affairs and Vice Dean for Academic affairs as they relate to a range of academic, policy, research and operational issues related to School of Medicine and HSC activities. 


Relieve the Associate Vice President/Vice Dean of a variety of administrative and operational matters in HSC and School of Medicine academic affairs issues; compose correspondence and prepare replies; plan, initiate and complete various highly responsible tasks related to faculty personnel and academic affairs issues; respond independently to a variety of incoming requests/issues; prioritize; determine appropriate action to be taken and follow through to completion. 

Maintain the Associate Vice President/Vice Dean's appointment calendar, schedule meetings and develop agendas, minutes and reports for meetings of the Academic Affairs Committee.

Serve as back up to the Personal Assistant to the Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean, School of Medicine, supervising activities of staff, managing workflow and coordinating assignments.

Provide administrative support to the School of Medicine Women's Advocates for Equity (SOMWAE); develop agendas and compile discussion materials ; prepare minutes and reports; participate in meetings and follow up on specific tasks to completion.

Coordinate the activities of School of Medicine surveys.

Coordinate the flow of documentation relating to VISA applications for School of Medicine foreign medical faculty and residents; verify accuracy of information and perform a preliminary review of the application materials for completeness, prior to legal review.


Bachelor's degree in Business or related area 


Four years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
