Job Title: Urban Systems Researcher, Senior

Job Summary

Organize, conduct, and administer the research and operational activities of a specified unit in the Urban Studies Center including designing, marketing, and managing research.

Duties and Responsibilities

Administer the affairs of the Center in a manner that will assure the completion of work objectively, accurately, on time, and within budget specifications.

Organize, conduct, and monitor research undertaken by the Center in the designated area and in a manner that will assure accurate, objective, and quality results.

Develop research and marketing proposals responsive to client requests received by the Center and needs and opportunities as self-perceived or developed in collaboration with others.

Prepare written, properly documented reports on research results for clients and general public, and where appropriate, colleagues in the profession.

Consult with public and other client agencies and/or representatives to identify problem areas, needs, and other opportunities for research and service interest.

Serve as consultant/advisor to the Center's Director and Deputy Director on all matters relating to the internal operation of the Center.

Coordinate activities and general operating procedures of the research program.

Oversee management of designated research program.

Train and direct associated research staff as needed.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Doctorate degree in the area of specialization. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.


Four years of experience in Applied Research.
