JOB SUMMARY
Conduct and interpret tests and procedures in a clinical laboratory.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Using sterile technique set up appropriate blood and bone marrow cultures.
Using appropriate additives, perform routine and specialized harvests, prepare slides.
Using routine and specialized staining techniques, prepare stained slides for analysis.
Perform routine, extended and specialized microscope analyses of chromosomes. Document and summarize analyses.
Prepare photomicrographs or computer images of chromosomes suitable for karyotyping.
Prepare correctly arranged karyotypes suitable for comparison of homologues and demonstration of any existing abnormalities.
Prepare reagents; keep records and quality control data as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree with major in science
EXPERIENCE
Two years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
