JOB TITLE: Nurse Specialist, Senior
CLASS CODE: 000495  

JOB SUMMARY

Supervise and provide specialized nursing services in the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients connected with the operations of a designated program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with physicians in the evaluation of patients, taking histories, performing developmental assessments, and providing follow-up services.

Coordinate and execute program research; plan and evaluate all components.

Perform patient screenings and make recommendations of referrals to the program.

Collect, organize, and maintain patient data and test results for both treatment and research purposes.

Promote public relations of the research program by increasing community awareness.

Direct and provide nursing consultation for problems with nursing assessment and implement changes as necessitated.

Supervise and manage all aspects of nursing services within the program.

Instruct patient in specialized treatment or care, monitor progress, and perform necessary follow-up in those instances requiring long term intervention.

Schedule and coordinate all laboratory tests and examinations.

Train, plan, and direct the activities of nursing staff assigned to the program.

Perform other related tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Registration to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements.

EXPERIENCE

Three years of experience.
