Job Title: Academic Counselor, Senior

 Job Summary

Plan, organize, and provide individual and group counseling to students.

Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate the counseling services provided by counseling staff.

Advise and counsel students on academic matters.

Supervise and coordinate the recruitment, testing, admissions, and orientation of new students.

Supervise and direct the collection of data and the maintenance of student files and other administrative records.

Act as liaison with faculty, special programs administrators, and academic and student personnel departments to determine and promote awareness of special student needs.

Assist in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of clerical staff and academic counselors.

Monitor students' progress and serve as contact person for parents of students who are dismissed or on probation.

Plan and coordinate recruitment activities including development of informational presentations, publications, and other materials.

Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of reports of a confidential nature.

Assess the need for and develop programs and activities to meet student needs.

May interpret NCAA and institutional academic policies concerning eligibility.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling, Student Personnel Services, or related field.

Experience

Three years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
