JOB TITLE: Nurse Coordinator, Senior

JOB SUMMARY

To coordinate clinical research studies, supervise data collection, provide continuing education to patients, families, and the public, assist with instructional and publication duties, and coordinate information flow to referring physicians.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise the computer clerk and coordinate data collection for the computerized Trauma Registry at University of Louisville Hospital.

Serve as Trauma Nurse Coordinator for Advanced Trauma Life Support Course.

See all new admissions to the trauma service at Humana Hospital-University of Louisville. Assist in patient and family information.

Coordinate information to referring physician and/or local medical doctor regarding patient's admission, injuries, and management plan.

Plan for Patient Post Hospitalization follow-up.

See all patients on day of discharge and assist in information regarding clinic or office follow-up and provide information to referring or local medical physician.

Complete trauma registry data sheet and return to computer clerk.

Coordinate prospective clinical research trials regarding trauma patients and assure patient entry and data collection when appropriate.

Organize teaching file of slides and x-rays regarding trauma.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Registration for Kentucky Board of Nursing. Additional experience may be substituted for up to two years of related education.

EXPERIENCE

Six years of related nursing experience.
