Job Summary
Assist in the preparation for and performance of post mortem examinations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare body and assist in performance of autopsies.
Obtain fluid and tissues from the body for toxicology, histology, and serology.
Clean bodies, autopsy tables, and instruments.
Prepare bodies for the morgue and notify funeral directors when examinations are completed.
Receive, prepare, and maintain medical, dental, and other related forms, reports, and records.
Transport samples and materials to clinical laboratory for testing.
Respond to inquiries from police, coroners, physicians, and attorneys.
Maintain dissection equipment and other instruments; order replacement equipment, parts, or materials as needed.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Training and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Science.
An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
Experience
Six months of related experience.
