Job Title: Director, Medical School Financial Aid

Job Summary

Administer School of Medicine programs related to medical students' financial assistance and counsel students regarding financial aid and debt management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Award and disburse Health Professions Loans, Guaranteed Student Loans and Emergency Loans in coordination with the University's Financial Aid Office and the Bursar's Office.

Counsel medical students to determine financial need, find sources of financial assistance, and assist students in completing applications and communicating with lenders or scholarship sources.

Counsel students on financial planning and debt management.

Construct student budgets in accordance with University policy and Federal regulations.

Assist in the recruitment of promising students through financial assistance in conjunction with the Admissions Office.

Act as student advocate and facilitator for medical students encountering problems relating to financial aid.

Administer Scholarships funded by the School of Medicine.

Edit and publish the Financial Aid Handbook.

Participate in the Dean's Academic Committee, studying the issues and offering input in areas related to financial aid and career development.

Assist Associate Dean for Admissions and Students on projects/ activities as directed.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Master's degree in Student Personnel, Management, Public Administration, Counseling or related field.

Experience

Two years of financial management experience.
