Job Title:  Assistant to the Dean, Arts and Sciences Cooperative Program
Class Code: 000109  

Job Summary

Direct the College's Cooperative Education Programs by establishing and administering collaborative academic projects with local schools and coordinate faculty and student participation in cooperative programs with local businesses.

Duties and Responsibilities

Administer, coordinate and develop the College's Cooperative Education Program with local businesses.

Administer student participation in Arts and Sciences cooperative courses in the high schools including: admission, registration, financial aid and orientation.

Administer budget, hiring of personnel and textbook allocation for collaborative courses in the high schools.

Visit high schools to monitor progress of Arts and Science courses and deal with student concerns.

Meet with University and Jefferson County Schools staff and faculty regarding new procedures and programs.

Administer Summer Minority Mentor-ship program; act as liaison with Lincoln Foundation for Math-Science Institute.

Complete project evaluations and reports.

Attend conferences and participate in committee work regarding the evaluation of proposals.

Perform and assist with various short-term projects as assigned by the Dean including: commencement planning and grant proposal preparation.

Teach, research and perform other scholarly activities.

Perform other duties as requested.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Ph.D. in related Arts and Sciences academic field.

Experience

Three years of related experience in higher education. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
