Oversee and plan all day to day operations in the RRC central facility and satellite locations. Areas of responsibility include routine animal husbandry and health practices, regulatory compliance and record keeping, facility maintenance, equipment selection, purchase and maintenance, research protocol planning and implementation, staffing, and implementing facility renovations. Participate in long range planning including facility design and procurement.


Manage all day to day operations in the RRC central facility and its six satellite locations.

Oversee the routine animal husbandry and animal health practices, physical plant maintenance, and animal housing selection, purchase and maintenance.

Select, schedule, and supervise animal husbandry and animal health staff.

Conduct training sessions covering daily responsibilities, preparing technicians for certification examinations, and facilitating continuing education.

Develop or review and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and Special Animal Protocols (SAPS).

Select, purchase, and maintain scientific equipment.

Direct regulatory agency compliance and record keeping.

Assist in the design and implementation of facility renovations and new facility design and procurement.

Participate in continuing education and professional development programs.


Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Animal Health, or related area. AALAS Certification at the Technologist level. Completion of the AALAS Laboratory Managers Course (ILAM).


Six years of related experience.An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
