Job Summary

Facilitate the admission of international students to the University through counseling, orientation, personal advising and related support services; fulfill the University's legal obligation to Immigration and Naturalization Service and the U.S. Information agency, and support Center programs through information dissemination and related activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Counsel and advise international students on Immigration Service admission and financial requirements.

Review and approve applications and documents completed for and by international students for Immigration Service and University admissions.

Provide guidance and assistance in regard to scholarships, community resources and other academic and/or personal matters, including work opportunities, full-time enrollment and change of major and/or status.

Conduct orientation sessions for new international students.

Provide personal and cross cultural counseling regarding housing, personal relationships and life style adjustments.

Confer with University departments, financial sponsors, foreign embassies and others regarding securing of University admission for international students.

Distribute information relating to international students through newsletters, workshops, campus offices, housing and residence halls.

Provide information in response to inquiries from prospective students and researchers.

Prepare institutional reports for government agencies and University offices.

Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Sciences, Education or related field.


Four years' related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
