Job Summary

Assist University attorneys in providing legal services, including litigation support for outside counsel, corporate activities, and legal audits of University departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

Review legal documents, draft legal documents, memoranda, minutes and action items for Boards and Committees, and correspondence for University Counsel.

Perform legal and archival research, interviews, and investigations including public records searches, computer data bases, property title and indexes, etc.

Prepare responses to Interrogatories, Document Production Requests, agency investigations, and counsel requirements in support of litigation.

Respond to routine inquiries regarding subpoena, public, student and patient records, service of process, and insurance.

Maintain litigation files and key corporate records, dockets.

Prepare immigration and labor certification petitions for faculty positions.

Perform interviews and desk audits of departmental policies, procedures, and forms and compare these with recommended procedures and legal requirements; developing recommendations to limit liability.

Participate in continuing Legal Education, training, staff meetings.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Bachelor's degree with specialized training in Legal Assistance/ Paralegal studies


Two years of related experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements.
