Job Summary

Direct all stage costume activities for Belknap Theatre, including design, construction, maintenance, and storage of costumes and teach classes in costume design.

Duties and Responsibilities

Design costumes for Belknap Theatre productions; supervise student costume design projects.

Supervise construction of costumes, training student workers as needed.

Teach a minimum of one class per year in Costume Design, Costume History, or Costume Construction, as needed.

Plan and administer work schedules for the Costume Shop and its personnel.

Assist in determination of theatrical production budgets; administer budget of the Costume Department.

Purchase fabrics, clothing, and accessories for theatre productions.

Assume responsibility for maintenance of the Costume Shop, equipment, and costume storage.

Coordinate and organize costuming for U of L Repertory Company and costume lending for U of L Studio Theatre and organizations outside the University.

Perform related duties as required.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Master's degree of Fine Arts in Costume Design.


Three years of experience in Costume Design and Construction.
