Coordination of the media and marketing for the Bicentennial Campaign, public relations facets of the composing of speeches and honorary degree citations, commemorative donor recognition, Task  Force on Office Morale and special events, Oversee the Stewardship and Research programs of the department.


Write, edit and coordinate the campaign marketing plant through the production of promotional literature, brochures and other fundraising materials: includes case statements, unit case statements, marketing package, etc.

Plan, prepare, design and assist in the production of the Development Department's new newsletter (created and edited by the Media Marketing Coordinator), the Philanthropic News: write and prepare all University required progress reports and annual reports.

Write and edit copy for University development news releases in regard to gifts, donors and their importance to the ongoing University needs. This also includes ad copy and articles for UofL Magazine, Inside UofL, and all media relations funneled through PIO and the office of Communication. A major concern is reaching the print media of the Courier-Journal, Business First, area newspapers outside the Louisville area and the broadcast media.

Attend and staff all Development Committee meetings and attend as representative all meetings campus-wide as related to the Bicentennial Celebration and Campaign.

Write and enter all Development CASE entries to state, regional and national CASE conferences. Submit all gift reports to Inside UofL, Case Kentucky, CASE III, the Chronicle of Philanthropy and Contributions.

Coordinate all promotional activities for the Bicentennial Campaign; i.e. campaign kick-off at Founder's Day '98, 1798 Society dinners, press conferences, Kentucky Derby guests and other donor recognition functions as they are scheduled.

Chair the Task Force on Office Morale planning staff retreat, planning and presiding at quarterly meetings, planning of holiday social functions for staff, and addressing staff concerns through the committee review process.

Oversee the Stewardship staff, the Research staff. Serve as liaison between the two departments and the Assistant Vice-President for Development.


Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or related field.


Four years of fundraising or related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
