Job Summary

To administer, direct, and supervise the operational, fiscal, and personnel activities of the Surgical Oncology Laboratory.


Duties and Responsibilities

Direct all administrative and budget activities of the laboratory.

Supervise and perform experiments in tumor growth and metastasis techniques which include: Northern hybridization, DNA and RNA probe acquisition and preparation, RNA isolation, intravital microscopy experiments, RIA techniques and photodynamic therapy treatments. This includes the overall supervision of two Fellows insofar as indoctrination, and routine orientation as well as collaborative research endeavors.

Supervise and plan daily activities of the laboratory.

Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.

Develop and implement a computer grant management accounting system and generate monthly reports for a budget in excess of 1 million dollars per year.

Supervise and assist in clinical research studies and coordinate work with the funding sources.

Supervise and develop an interactive video teaching library.

Maintain supplies for all above research projects.

Supervise the management of toxic and radioactive waste.


Knowledge, Training and Skills

Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or chemistry.



Four years of directly related experience.  Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements.
