Exercise overall supervision over an accounting function and develop and maintain accounting systems and procedures.


Supervise pre-audit of accounting and budgetary transactions to insure timely and accurate processing and posting of accounts.

Responsible for maintenance of research grants and contracts and other restricted accounts.

Work closely with principle investigators on project budgets and granting agencies such as the Department of Health and Human Services relative to budgets, overhead charges and letters of credit.

Control preparation of data for computer processing and maintain audit control over all computer output.

Work with external auditors.

Assist in the development of new or improved computer processing procedures.

Assist departmental personnel regarding accounting questions and problems.

Prepare accounting reports on monthly or project basis as appropriate.

May prepare journal vouchers for year-end closings.

Assign and maintain work of support staff.

Perform related duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.


Three years of general or fund accounting experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
