Job Summary

Direct and coordinate the technical operations associated with a major laboratory/shop of the Speed Scientific School.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide service and repair on scientific research instrumentation.

Fabricate and design electronic instrumentation to support research.

Coordinate the business and technical activities that assure the operational availability of complex research instrumentation.

Determine appropriate techniques and methods to solve technical problems.

Serve as technical liaison with all departments within Speed School as well as instrument manufacturers, technical representatives, service engineers, and organizations associated with Speed School research.

Determine work schedules and prioritize activities within the facility.

Direct the repair of complex scientific research instrumentation.

Administer major service contracts; negotiate, prepare and oversee instrument/computer service contracts.

Project operating budget.

Review and approve safe operating conditions of equipment.

Coordinate the hiring and training of technical personnel.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.


Four years of related experience.
