Job Summary

Responsible for all phases of the Paralegal Studies Program, including: serve as student advisor to program; recruitment and supervision of instructors; course development and preparation of curricula and course schedules; development and supervision of internships; development and operation of placement assistance for the program; preparation and control of program budget; serve as Program spokesperson and advocate; participate in recruitment efforts; recruit and activate Advisory Board; and monitor program for compliance to all ABA approval requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Advise paralegal majors and other interested students and potential students.

Plan and prepare curricula, program schedule of courses, develop new courses, develop syllabi and assist adjunct faculty in textbook and course materials selection.

Develop and operate a placement program for program students and graduates.

Develop and supervise internships in area law offices, corporations, and government agencies.

Recruit, hire and supervise from 8 to 13 adjunct faculty (total number varies from semester to semester).

Monitor compliance of program with American Bar Association guidelines including: preparation of lengthy self-evaluation reports every 2 1/2 years; periodic communication with ABA to inform of program changes; and coordination of all aspects of ABA site visit every five years.

Draft and prepare periodic program information newsletter.

Develop and utilize computer distribution list for students and faculty, and develop and maintain World Wide Web site for program.

Serve as spokesperson for the program, including: communications with interested public; area high school students; area bar and paralegal associations, etc.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Master's degree in Liberal Arts, Business or related field.


Two years of paralegal experience.
