Health Waivers
You may waive health coverage through UofL.
If you waive UofL’s health insurance, the university will deposit $2,100 annually ($175/mo) in a health care flexible spending account. The account is created automatically through the waiver process. You have the option of placing that money into a health care OR a dependent care account. Dependent care accounts can only be used for day care for dependents under the age of 13 or for adult day care.
Who is eligible for this benefit?
Regular, full-time employees.
What do I need to do during open enrollment?
- If you waived coverage in 2011 and elected HEALTH waiver and you will waive it again for 2012 and want your allowance to go to a Health care flexible spending account: Do nothing.
- If you waived coverage in 2011 and will waive it in 2012, and want your allowance to go to a Dependent care flexible spending account you must make that election: Once in the Benefits Enrollment portion of ULink, make your allocations on the flexible spending account screen.
- To waive participation in a UofL health plan if you did not waive it in 2011: Once in the Benefits Enrollment portion of ULink, choose Waive Coverage and select the money to go into a healthcare account OR a dependent care account.
