Permanently Disabled or Retirement

Should you become disabled or retire, the university Health Insurance Benefit Plan can remain in effect until age 65 for you and your eligible dependents (as long as you remain disabled) if you have seven continuous years of regular status, or age and service equaling 75 years or 80% or greater FTE service on the last day of university service. Past age 65, retirees receive a subsidy towards the purchase of a University selected Medicare supplement. Information about premium rates, method of premium payment, etc. can be obtained by contacting us at 852-6258.

Your dependent’s coverage terminates when you elect to terminate your coverage or when your dependent no longer qualifies as an eligible dependent, whichever happens first.
