Instructions on How to Apply for Housing
Be sure to complete all 3 parts to complete your housing. At the end of the process you should receive an email with your room assignment. If you do not get that email, YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED ALL THE STEPS.
Spring Applicants should only complete Part 1 and Part 2 of the process. The ULH and ULP assignments staff will make an assignment and notify you of your placement through email.
Part 1 Personal information and Preferences
- Go to https://studenthousing.louisville.edu and select New Application
- In the Application Period drop down box select the appropriate application period
- Select 2012-13 Academic Year New Applicants if you are looking to live on campus starting in the Summer (for Med Dent Apartments) or Fall of 2012.
- Fill out Profile information and click on Next
- If you are part of Metro College or are a Post doc student please select your group from the drop down list.
- If you are interested in one of our living learning communities, please click on the link for LLCs for more information. If you know which community you would like to join, go ahead and click on the application link.
- This will pop up a new window to our forms page. Select the community you would like to join and fill out the form. Once you have completed the form, return to the housing application and finish it.
- Under room preferences select New (This is only in the event we have to perform assignments instead of you selecting your room.)
- At Preference Type select Building
- The Next Drop down box will allow you to select your building. All of our buildings will appear as options, if you are not eligible for a building but still select it that preference will be kicked out during the assignment process and your next valid choice will be selected.
- For our suite style buildings, you have the option of selecting your preferred room type. It is not required that you select a room type.
- We will recognize up to 7 room preferences. If your particular preference is to be in a specific building regardless of the specific room, be sure as your last choice to select just the building and leave the room type field empty.
- Click on the Next button
- If you have a specific roommate request please enter their student ID number. Their name should pop up under Roommate Name as long as they have already submitted an application.
- Click on the Continue button
- On the next page, review your information. If any is incorrect, click on the redo button.
- Please read the bottom information. The next step will be to log in with your user name and password to sign the license and pay the application fee.
- If you are satisfied with the information, print the page.
- Click on the Continue button
Part 2 Signing the License Agreement and Paying the Application Charge
- After you submit your application, return to the main housing login screen and select I am finalizing my application or choosing my room.
- Type in your student ID number and click on Activate my password. Your password will be emailed to you. THIS IS NOT YOUR ULINK PASSWORD
- Once you have received your password, go back to the main housing login screen log in.
- On the welcome page you will see a set of links on the left of the page.
- Select Account
- You will be directed to a payment page. The current application payment is $175.00. Please note this is a non-refundable payment.
- If you are a participant in the free or reduced lunch program and/or received a reduction on your university application you can request a fee waiver.
- Select the link and fill out the information.
- It will take one business day to process your application payment. Except on January 4th. We will be processing payments hourly.
- Select Update My Application and Sign License
- You must sign off that you reviewed the Housing License, Lead Disclosure documents, and the Cancellation Policy.
- If you are under 18, a parent must sign as well.
- Missing Persons Contact Information
- Select Missing Persons Contact and fill out the requested information
Congratulations! You have completed the housing application. We are making assignments daily. You can check your Ulink account to see if you have received an assignment.
