Teacher Education LLC

This community provides students majoring in Early Elementary Education or Middle/Secondary Education the opportunity to experience Teacher Education through complete immersion. Participants of this LLC will live on the same floor, take classes together, and receive specialized programming focusing on academic and social integration. This community is housed in Unitas Tower, located directly next to the College of Education and Human Development Porter Building. Who can apply for the Teacher Education Community?
  • All incoming first-year students majoring in Early Elementary Education or Middle/Secondary Education. · If you are interested in applying, please fill out our housing application. After completing the housing application, please complete the Living-Learning Community/Themed Community Interest Form.
Required Courses for the Teacher Education Community:

Fall: EDTP 101 – Academic Orientation (1 hr.),\

Spring EDTP 201 – The Teaching Profession (3 hrs.)

What are the benefits of participating in the Teacher Education Community?
  • Academic and social transition assistance from high school to the University of Louisville
  • Opportunities to meet with teacher education faculty and professional advisors outside of the classroom and advising appointments
  • In-hall tutoring to help with major classes and preparation for passing the Praxis CASE exam, a requirement for admission into the professional teacher education program
  • Exposure to education-related community service volunteer experiences
  • Programming designed to cultivate pride, confidence, and cohesion for students as they progress in their teacher education programs
