Technology Internship

Hours for internship:  75 hours per term

 

Objective:  To gain an understanding of the business and technology practices involved in a major university housing program; and to gain direct experience in planning and implementing specific technology based projects such as design of academic support systems in halls and development of technology updates in services provided.

 

Intended skill development and experience can be arranged for any combination of the following:

  • Enhance business, technology utilization and communication skills
  • Sharpen planning and time management skills
  • Gain direct experience in managing administrative aspects of a major student affairs program
  • Develop confidence in dealing with diverse groups from a variety of university units as well as the private business sector
  • Gain experience in developing a timeline and document regarding transition of residence halls from spring to summer use or to fall use
  • Enhance EXCEL and ACCESS program skills
  • Gain experience in designing technology based services for students
  • Gain budgeting planning and oversight experience in technology based services

 

Possible Duties could include:

  • Assist in design and implementation of updated services to students
  • Conduct market research on best practices on college campuses and assist in development of future planning based on research and need
  • Develop and implement educational component for resident students regarding technology policies and procedures
  • Assist in the daily oversight of outsourced agreements for service
  • Design and implement assessment of services with students
  • Assist in provision of academic support technology and work areas
  • Plan and present training for staff utilizing services
  • Assist in supervision of student support staff
