Public History Internship Scholarship

Two (2) Public History Scholarships

  • Eligibility: Entering or continuing students in the Master of Arts Program of the History Department. Preference will be given to students majoring in Public History.
  • Criteria: Applicants need a GPA of 3.00 overall for undergraduate and graduate work completed. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic qualifications.  In the case of students with substantially equal academic qualifications, preference shall be given to candidates demonstrating  skills and experience valuable for internship requirements.  In case of students currently receiving department funding, an evaluation from a current supervisor may be considered.
  • Description: Students who are pursuing public history as their major or minor field in the MA program in the Department of History are invited to apply for a $2,000 scholarship to be awarded for the semester in which they enroll in HIST 608.  Scholarships will be awarded to two students per year.

 

 

Filson Historical Society Internship

One (1) Filson Intern for the 2014-2015 academic year.

  • Eligibility:  Entering or continuing students in the Master of Arts Program of the History Department. Present or prior service as a Filson Intern does not automatically insure renewal of appointment, but current or past Interns may apply for reappointment for one additional year.
  • Criteria: Applicants need a GPA of 3.00 overall for undergraduate and graduate work completed. Candidates with the strongest academic qualifications will be selected.  In the case of students with substantially equal academic qualifications, preference shall be given to candidates whose skills and experience best fit the needs of the Filson Historical Society, which must approve the candidate selected.
  • Description: Duties include general archival-related work at the Filson Historical Society.  Work load is ten hours per week for 40 weeks.  Subject to budgetary approval, recipient will receive a total stipend of $6000 plus nine (9) hours of in state tuition.  Students may receive course credit by enrolling in History 608 - Practicum in Public History during one semester.
