Yuxin Ma received her Ph. D from University of Minnesota in 2003, and was an assistant professor at Armstrong Atlantic State University from 2003-06. She joined University of Louisville in 2006 as the East Asian Historian. Her specialties are late imperial China, Republican China, Chinese women’s history, and gender and sexuality in East Asia. She teaches upper division courses on Traditional China, Modern China, East Asian Women’s History, Nationalism and Modernity in East Asia, as well as survey course World Civilization. Her first book Women Journalists and Feminism in China, 1898-1937 was published by Cambria Press in January 2010. She has authored multiple articles in various academic journals, including Women’s History Review, Gender Issues, and Twentieth Century China. She is currently studying Chinese women and popular media under Japanese occupation, and the impact of 1949 division on political and economic elite.
